How Cincinnati Spray Foam Insulation Handles a Project

Cincinnati Spray Foam Insulation insulates and air seals houses across Cincinnati, its Ohio suburbs and the Northern Kentucky river cities. We spray open-cell and closed-cell foam, blow cellulose and fiberglass, insulate basements, crawl spaces and existing walls, and pull out old insulation that has gone bad.

Every job starts in the house, not on the phone. A visit normally covers the attic, the space under the first floor (basement, crawl space or both, which is common on Cincinnati hillsides), and any wall, knee wall or bonus room you want addressed. We measure the insulation already there, check its condition, and look for the leaks that matter most in a humid Ohio Valley climate: open chases around chimneys and plumbing stacks, recessed lights, the attic hatch, top plates, and the rim joist where the framing sits on the foundation. We also look for problems that new insulation would only hide, such as a roof leak, wet sill plates, a musty crawl space, rodent nests, knob-and-tube wiring or loose vermiculite.

Then we explain what we would do and why. Foam is the right tool for some surfaces and the wrong one for others. A wide, open attic floor is usually sealed with foam and caulk and then topped with blown-in insulation, which costs less than foam over the whole floor. Rim joists, crawl space walls, roof decks without an attic and open walls in a remodel are where foam tends to earn its price. When two methods would both work, the quote lists both.

How we work

  • Inspect first. Nothing is priced until we have seen and measured the spaces.
  • Write it down. Each area on the quote names the material, the thickness or depth, the R-value target and the price.
  • Seal, then insulate. Air leaks get closed before new insulation goes over them.
  • Protect the house. Floors and belongings are covered, the work area is closed off and ventilated, and we clean up when we finish.
  • Agree on changes. Work starts after you approve the quote, and any change is agreed in writing before it happens.

Who calls us

Owners of century-old brick homes in the city who are tired of hot top floors in July and cold ones in January. Families in 1950s and 1960s ranches and split-levels with thin attic insulation and a damp crawl space. Owners of newer homes in Butler and Warren counties with a bonus room that never feels right. Buyers whose home inspection found missing or soggy insulation. Anyone finishing a basement who wants the walls and rim joist handled before the drywall goes up.
